Simryn Gill: Gathering

This solo exhibition presents sculptures, books and photographs from the last six years of leading Sydney-based Malaysian artist, Simryn Gill. A Museum of Contemporary Art touring exhibition, it has been expanded to include the Australian premiere of Gill’s major work Throwback, a new book inspired by the gardens at Heide and additional recent works.

Throwback was produced for Documenta 12 in Kassel, Germany, and reworks the inner machinery of a 1985 Tata truck that plied the roads of Malaysia. Visitors can also participate in Gill’s Paper boats by making their own paper boats with pages from a 1968 Encyclopedia Britannica.
