Public Holidays Victoria

Holidays

On public holidays, virtually all banks, post offices and businesses in Victoria are closed. Many bars, restaurants and cafes also observe holidays, especially on Christmas Day and New Years Day, and there is limited public transport. Holidays falling on a Saturday or Sunday are generally celebrated the following Monday.

Victorian public holidays for 2010 are:

New Years Day (1 January)
Australia Day (26 January)
Labour Day (8 March)
Easter (Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Monday, 2-5 April)
Anzac Day (26 April *substitute for Sunday 25 April)
Queens Birthday (14 June)
Melbourne Cup Day (2 November)
Christmas Day (25 December)
Boxing Day (Sunday 26 December and Tuesday 28 December *additional day)
