Celebrate the power of the voice through the sounds, sights and sensations of opera. Three wonderful productions come to the stage in Melbourne this spring. Do not miss the delightful revival of Mozart's popular The Marriage of Figaro, Baz Luhrman's exotic and colourful vision of A Midsummer Night's Dream and the return of one of Opera Australia's most celebrated productions, Rigoletto All three productions are brought to the stage brilliantly by Opera Australia's ensemble of singers, dancers, actors, costumiers, wigmakers, designers, painters, technicians, directors and orchestral musicians. The Marriage of Figaro Mozart November 17 to December 17 Two great voices go head to head when Teddy Tahu Rhodes makes his Melbourne role debut as Figaro and Peter Coleman-Wright plays Count Almaviva. Will Susana and Figaro make it through a crazy day in time for thier wedding? Trust Mozart to reveal all. Rigoletto Verdi November 22 to December 18 Rigoletto is the Duke of Mantua's court jester, but he is not laughing when his master seduces the innocent Gilda. Meet Verdi's fascinating parade of characters as they fill the theatre with brilliant arias and ensembles in this much loved production. A Midsummer Nights Dream Britten December 4 to December 18 Baz Luhrmann's colour-drenched realm of midsummer magic is back, with its company of Indian gods, British colonials and rustic clowns. Benjamin Britten's music captures the spirit of Shakespeare's mischievous tale with a spell-bindingly beautiful score.
